Africa Development Corps is seeking a Business Development Expert to work in West Nile, Uganda.

Background: Africa Development Corps (ADC) is an international nonprofit volunteer and development organization which works in education, food security, livelihoods and public health. ADC is based in Washington DC and currently works in four African countries at present. ADC has worked in Uganda for 27 years, since 1991, and has run education and public health programs in numerous districts, often utilizing the services of skilled international volunteers. ADC is currently managing a peace building and early childhood development program for South Sudanese refugees in the Adjumani and Kiryandongo refugee camps.

Responsibilities: Manage livelihoods, microfinance and small business development activities for South Sudanese refugees in three refugee camps in Northern Uganda. Assure high quality program delivery and consistent monitoring and evaluation. Manage finances, logistics and human resources. Promote ADC with donors and liaise with them regarding livelihood programs. Create new livelihoods programs by assessing the needs on the ground and developing requisite programs with donor support. Assure that all program and financial reports are completed and submitted in a timely manner. Report regularly to ADC country director regarding program progress and proposed programs.

Requirements: At least 5 years of experience working in international development, preferably working in Africa. Masters or PhD degree in business, economics or related fields required. Concrete experience managing livelihood and microfinance programs in African countries required. Experience delivering training in microenterprise development, entrepreneurship and savings and loan associations required. Refugee program experience a plus. Excellent communication skills and a grassroots mindset essential.

Terms: This is a 9 month position, starting in July, based in Arua with frequent travel to the field in the West Nile region. A competitive salary is offered. Benefits include housing and basic health insurance.
