How can you make a difference?

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Communication and working closely with the Communication and Private Sector Engagement Specialists, the Consultant will be responsible to produce high quality short films/videos that highlight the current situation of children living in poverty, generate empathy and understanding of the issues at the core of UNICEF Uganda’s innovative financing agenda; with a clear target audience of: Private Sector; Foundations; High Net Worth Individuals; & Investors. That is, the high impact stories to be used directly with these groups as visual and emotive tools when UNICEF discusses the sustainable financing agenda for the Child Support Grant.

Key Tasks:

The produce short films/videos that will make the case for why the Child Support Grant, how and what the Grant would do to lift children under the age of 2 from poverty, including (but not limited to):

  • Increase school enrolment;
  • Reduce stunting;
  • Provide shelter and clothing;
  • Nurturing care, etc.
  • develop scripts for three (3) films related to child poverty and a Child Support Grant benefitting families with children under the age of 2
  • interview and oversee shoot for the three films
  • oversee edit and final cut of the three films
  • Each film should be no longer than three minutes. Duration of each film will differ.
  • Key deliverables:

  • Three scripts for pre-approval
  • Three final cut short films/ videos; each of no more than 3mins.

    Based on the field work, additional ideas for further work in 2018 in support of UNICEF Uganda’s Business Case for Child Support.

  • To qualify asan advocate]or every child you will have…

    · At least 10 years of professional work experience in production of film and television; · Proven experience to produce and deliver high quality, impactful films for social change; · Proven experience that produced film and TV is aired as film and on TV (ie, proven dissemination); · Proven advocacy experience and good knowledge of development issues, especially children’ issues and UNICEF’s work; · Experience with UNICEF and in Eastern and Southern Africa is highly desirable.

  • High quality portfolio in production of film, video and advocacy.
  • · High level of professional capacity to handle a heavy workload under constraints, with sensitivity to local traditions and customs · Knowledge of UN common practices, UNICEF corporate identity
