Documentary maker
1.Background and context
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a private, independent humanitarian organization working to provide durable solutions and promote human security.
In Uganda, DRC works in North, North-Western, South-Western and North-Eastern regions in a range of emergency/development support for the refugees and communities in need with the aim of saving lives by providing protection and humanitarian assistance, and creating livelihoods (for more information go to www.drc.dk)).
2.Purpose
The documentary maker’s primary function is producing 3 video clips (2-3 minutes) in order to bring global attention to the plight of South Sudanese in conflict and the subsequent refugee outflow in refugee hosting areas in Uganda; showcase Uganda’s progressive refugee policy and demonstrate the impact and value for money for EU funds invested in the action.
The candidate is expected to exercise full compliance with DRC programming, financial, procurement and administrative rules, regulations, policies and strategies, as well as implementation of the effective internal control systems.
3.Key Responsibilities
3.1.Scope of consultancy
The documentary maker’s primary function will be to produce 3 video clips (2-3 minutes)
3.2.Key deliverables/outputs
Production of 3 videos that documents the plight of South Sudanese refugees in Uganda, the impact of the ECHO project interventions on beneficiaries in the refugee settlements and Uganda’s refugee policy. The videos must be in formats that can be easily shared online (websites & social media).
4.DRC’s responsibilities
DRC will provide travel and accommodation at field level (Arua, Adjumani and Moyo districts) and travel from/to Kampala (by car).
5.Reporting Arrangements
The Consultant will report to and work closely with DRC’s Advocacy & Communication Coordinator.
6.DURATION OF ASSIGNMENT
Deliverables of the assignment must be submitted to DRC by 30 April 2018.
7.EXPECTED PROFILE OF CONSULTANT
At least 3 years work experience in documentary production/TV reporting/film production; proficient in use of audio visual equipment and software; capable of producing high quality work under a tight time schedule; must have excellent communication skills; must be proficient in English; should have a core qualification in a media related field (communication and media studies, fine art/visual art, graphic design, photography/film/television production and must be computer-literate).
8.TERMS & CONDITIONS
The assignment will be field based in Arua, Adjumani and Moyo districts in the West Nile region.
9. APPLICATION PROCESS

ii. Technical proposal that summarizes understanding of the TOR, methodology and tools to be used.

v. Contacts of three organizations that have recently contracted you to carry out similar assignment.
