This position is a Global Health Corps (GHC) fellowship role. GHC is a leadership development organization focused on building the next generation of diverse, disruptive global health leaders. Founded in 2009, we competitively recruit talented professionals (ages 21-30) from a range of sectors and backgrounds and place them in high-impact roles within partner organizations working on the front lines of health equity in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, the US, and Zambia.
The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer will support our Program Officer and Country Director to strengthen the execution of our monitoring and evaluation (M&E) system. This person will help lead the team through the process of assessing and solidifying our theory of change, and adding a clear structure to our current M&E activities.
About
Days for Girls Uganda's mission is to create a more dignified, free, and educated world through access to lasting feminine hygiene solutions. This mission is powered by our three-tier model offering locally made, high-quality washable menstrual hygiene kits, reproductive health education training, and women-led enterprise development. Our current priorities include strengthening our program delivery through regular evaluation, assessment, and refresher trainings of our program staff; creation of follow-up support resources for program participants; and improved monitoring and evaluation systems. Our aim is to fully prove our model to allow for scale, replication, and adaption to expand to other countries in 2018 and 2019.
Responsibilities
- Identify gaps in M&E capacity and create tailored training programs and resources to support professional growth and development among Program staff
- Utilize ESRI (a GIS application) mobile form and database for compilation and analysis of field-based data collection efforts
- Assist with integration of program data into Salesforce database and reports
- Evaluate and streamline existing monitoring & evaluation systems
- Lead qualitative and quantitative data collection efforts during field-based training programs
- Manage data entry process and analyze data results
- Create and disseminate regular program reports and updates
- Develop systems for evaluating program processes and implementation quality
- Create resources for strengthening business and community outreach efforts of Days for Girls enterprises around Uganda
Skills and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree*
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and analyzing M&E systems and results in support of program/project improvement*
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel*
- Experience with data management systems such as STATA, SPSS, or similar program*
- Strong written and verbal communication*
- Experience with database/CRM platforms such as Salesforce
- Qualitative research experience
- Experience with R (a type of data analysis software, similar to SPSS)
- Very proactive and sociable – willing and able to follow up quickly with many different stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to achieving results
- Willingness to travel, sometimes to remote areas
- Ability to work with people from all backgrounds
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and view challenges as learning opportunities
- A Type A personality – creative, but very organized and has a love of systems!
