The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has been implementing projects for Internally Displaced Persons and Refugees in Northern Uganda, West Nile and South Western respectively, since 1997. Having smoothly phased-out by end of August 2014 in the North, NRC reopened from September 2014, to compliment efforts of the Government of Uganda and UNHCR in supporting the South Sudanese Refugees currently settled in the Districts of Adjumani and Arua in West Nile. With funding from SIDA, NMFA, ECHO and UNHCR, NRC will implement integrated projects in Adjumani/Arua/Yumbe Refugee Settlements.
NRC now seeks to recruit a Project Coordinator for its WASH Project in Yumbe West Nile Uganda.
The Project Coordinator will lead Lead all WASH activities under the NRC Yumbe WASH Project, in close collaboration with other implementing partners.
NRC may be required to verify the identity of its partners/employees and to check that its partners/employees have not been involved in illegal activities. NRC reserves the right to use electronic screening tools for this purpose

Job description

  • Responsible for the coordination and full implementation of the WASH project while working in close collaboration with WASH Project Manager according to strategy and plan,
  • Together with the M&E Officer ensure timely monitoring and evaluation of the project to make sure that project implementation is on track
  • In close liaison with Finance department, monitor budget and project finances. Maintaining strong financial control on budgets by ensuring spending within available resources and in compliance with donor and NRC regulations and guidelines
  • Supervise all the WASH project staff, providing on capacity building of the team
  • In close liaison with WASH Manager, develop WASH project proposals.
  • Develop Annual activity and Workplans
  • Produce timely quality project reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual) according to donor requirements and NRC M&E guidelines.
  • Liaise with local authorities and stakeholders in WASH to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the program
  • Represent NRC on WASH working group, cluster and other WASH-related meetings in the field
  • Training and development of WASH staff
  • Organize trainings for the WASH team, relevant partners and beneficiaries
  • Any other tasks assigned by both the Head of Office, Area Manager and WASH PM for the overall Management, Supervision, Monitoring and Evaluation of the program

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and related fields
  • At least three years’ experience in Project Management with a local or international humanitarian organisation;
  • Experience with emergency WASH interventions and programming is essential;
  • Proven track record of management skills, including personnel and financial management
