About the role
The joint Country Director/Chief of Party, Uganda will lead the two existing MSI Uganda partner organisations - which comprise centres, outreach, social franchising and social marketing service delivery channels - through a merger process (a temporary separation of entities is currently in place). This merger will gain efficiencies and overcome duplication of structures, while the merged entity will still strictly observe compliance with donor policies and grants conditions.
You will be expected to lead and line manage the country Senior Management Team (SMT) of the merged entity, developing both individual and team capacity, providing clear strategic direction to managers and team members so that the country programme is equipped to work towards the goals set out in the merged entity's annual business plan and it's 2016-2020 'Scaling up Excellence' strategy. As part of this work, you will build, nurture and maintain strong partnerships with government, health professionals, businesses, peer agencies and the community
Your success will be measured in various ways, but primarily you will be expected to improve the bottom line of the merged entity through increased revenue growth and optimising earned income from selected MSI service delivery channels; increased efficiency of operations and sound financial management; and sustained surplus of the activities that are implemented under the MSI social business model.
About you
We see the successful candidate bringing to the role demonstrable experience in managing U.S. Government and other donor funded programming and proven knowledge and experience applying U.S. Government assistance rules and regulations, including family planning compliance. You will have a thorough understanding of the development sector and an entrepreneurial approach. You will have had experience in an organisation to the scale of the two existing MSI Uganda partner organisations, executed successful change management projects and rolled out systems in complex environments.
In addition, you will have worked challenging environments as well as designed and delivered strategic and annual business plans and income generation through donor funding, and/or commercial activities. You will have financial and reporting management experience, to include managing and improving the bottom line and the ability to generate, track and analyse management information and client data to inform management decision-making. In addition you will be a motivational leader with strong communication skills with the ability to manage both internal and external stakeholders, as well as motivated to deliver tangible results for the organisation and to manage change successfully.
