The position: The International Potato Center is looking for a consultant to conduct a market and consumer survey of sweetpotato and OFSP in secondary cities in Uganda (Gulu, Mbale and Busia).
Key Responsibilities:
- Design the data collection tools; collect data in Gulu, Mbale and Busia districts;
- Submit both the qualitative and quantitative data collected and field photos. The data sets should be in both Excel and STATA format;
- Prepare and submit a detailed final report of the survey findings with S.M.A.R.T. recommendations to CIP on strategies to increase adoption, trade and consumption of OFSP and its products;
- The consultant is expected to present findings in a stakeholder’s workshop organized by CIP.
Selection Criteria:
- A master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness or other relevant post-graduate qualification but with agricultural/socio-economics background;
- At least five years of experience in consulting;
- Extensive knowledge on the sweetpotato value chain, including knowledge on traditional and upcoming innovative sweetpotato products, their processing methods, their markets and prices;
- Strong demonstrated experience and knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research and data analysis methods;
- First author of at least two peer reviewed journal papers;
- Excellent communication, report writing and presentation/facilitation skills.
Conditions
The consultancy is limited to Uganda nationals and permanent residents only. The consultancy contract will be for a forty day term within the months of January to March 2020. The schedule will be agreed upon by the consultant and CIP based on a workplan developed by the consultant in the proposal.
