In Uganda, we implement programmes in five thematic programme areas of Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Education, Child Poverty, Health and Nutrition in Development and Emergency contexts. Save the Children delivers programs in over 36 districts in the North, Rwenzori, North-Eastern, West Nile and Central regions of Uganda. We save children’s lives. We fight for their rights. We help them fulfil their potential.

Role Purpose:
The jobholder is primarily responsible for planning, coordinating and ensuring quality and timely implementation of core ECCD project activities within the designated districts and sub-counties. He or she is expected to oversee the ECCD project activities implementation and ensure that they are implemented in a manner that promotes integrated programming with other core programs of Non Formal Education, Formal Primary Education and cross cutting themes such as gender, disability, child Protection and Child rights Governance. The Job Holder is also expected to foster “value adding” networks and collaborations with other CSOs and the respective local Governments. In particular, s/he will work closely with the Community Based Services, Health, and Education Departments. Local capacity strengthening for community level/grassroots stakeholders will also be key. The post holder may b e called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis

Qualification and Experience;

Essential
* Minimum of a Degree in Education specializing in Early Childhood Development/ Education Additional or post graduate qualification in Public health or community health is an added advantage
* At least 3 years’ progressive working experience in planning and implementing Education programmes with INGOs.
* Having at least two years of teaching experience in primary schools.
* Must be willing to be based in the field.
* Experience of working with the Local Government and local partners with focus on improving the learning environments is an added advantage.
* Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.

Desirable
* Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
* Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
* Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
