Consultancy services to facilitate the update of ASARECA Branding Strategy
REFERENCE NO: ASA/CONS/17-18/00007
1. Introduction
The Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA) funded by various donors under the Multi Donor Trust Fund (MDTF), with the World Bank, acting as administrator of the grant funds provided toward the cost of the Support to Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa and intends to apply part of the proceeds for provision of individual consultant services.
2. Objective of the consultancy
The overall objective of this consultancy is to revive ASARECA’s corporate image and expand its visibility among critical stakeholders. The Specific objectives of the assignment are:
Facilitate participatory development of an ASARECA Value Proposition and Brand Promise.
Develop an ASARECA Rebranding Strategy and Implementation Plan.
3.Scope of work
The consultant will:
- Engage ASARECA key stakeholders through desk reviews, online interviews and surveys to document their perceptions and recommendations for a refreshed ASARECA brand. Some of the targeted stakeholders include: National Agricultural Research Institutes (NARIs); ASARECA Board of Directors; Development Partners; Sub-Regional Organisations engaged in AR4D, extension, training and education; Farmer’s Associations; Private Investors; and the CGIAR, among others.
- Review key documents and processes guiding ASARECA’s future focus and incorporate them into the Rebranding Strategy: These include: The Internally Commissioned External Review (ICER) report; the revised ASARECA Strategy and results Framework (2019-2028); ASARECA’s OP III (being developed); and the Governance Reforms, which are underway. The consultant will be required to participate in the OP III validation workshops to document emerging issues relevant in informing the Rebranding Strategy.
- Facilitate and manage a one-day-consultative Brand Interrogation and Internalization workshop.
- Develop a Rebranding Strategy and Implementation Plan, including developing a new logo and visual changes to guide implementation of ASARECA’s rebranding exercise.
4. ASARECA now invites eligible individual consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (academic qualification, description of similar assignments, and experience in similar conditions).
5. The attention of the interested consultant is drawn to paragraph 1.9 of the world Bank ‘s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (current edition) setting forth the World Bank policy on conflict of interest.
Consultants will be selected in accordance with Selection of Individual Consultants Selection method set out in the World Bank consultants’ guidelines.
