Role Purpose:
The Education in Emergencies Advisor will work with a Consortium of education actors providing primary and accelerated education programmes for refugees in Uganda. The position will technically advise and guide programme implementation ensuring that it is of a high quality and aligned with national and global education standards. The role-holder will be responsible for aligning projects, establishing and maintaining inter-agency coordination mechanisms and guiding research and evaluations. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Qualification and Experience; Essential
- Minimum level, Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (international relations, political science, etc.)
- A minimum of 5 years' experience working in education programmes in humanitarian context (refugee response or (post) conflict setting)
- Excellent knowledge of education in emergencies programming and links to long-term programming, including standards, policies, frameworks, and relevant networks and stakeholders (INEE, GPE, ECW etc.)
- Experience designing and conducting training and capacity building activities
- Strong experience working in a partnership model and establishing and maintaining coordination and communication systems at inter-agency level
- Excellent writing and speaking skills and ability to develop complex arguments
- Solid budgeting skills and understanding of working with donors
Willingness and availability to travel, including to remote locations and often at short-notice Desirable
Accredited teacher qualification
Experience teaching
A background in child protection, including psychosocial support, and / or child safeguarding systems in education environments
