Founded in 2008, The Water Trust has a ten-year track record in western Uganda helping more than 150,000 people enjoy improved access to water, sanitation, and hygiene. Recently, The Water Trust has pioneered an innovative approach to empowering rural communities to address the critical challenge of water point sustainability while transforming community hygiene and sanitation norms. This approach carefully adapts and sequences savings groups into a holistic WASH program to produce healthy, resilient, and empowered rural communities. We aim to scale this approach to more than 200,000 people in western Uganda over the next several years, while partnering with government and peer organizations to adapt and scale our model across East Africa.
