in UGANDA
In each of our partner countries, Broederlijk Delen has a local representative who represents the organisation in the region and cooperates closely with the staff in Brussels.
Currently we are looking for a local representative for Uganda.
Start of contract: July 2018
Planned depart: mid July
Location: Kampala
Intervention zones: Lango sub-region (central-North) and Rwenzori region (West)
Thematic focus: increase food security and income of family farmers in the 2 regions
Job description
- You conceive a regional policy and facilitate participatory program development with the partners and in close consultation with our staff in Brussels
- You develop sustainable relationships with the partner organisations, a.o. through frequent field visits
- You contribute to the development of new forms of collaboration among partners in Uganda and Belgium, working on sustainable development
- You communicate actively with the staff in Brussels about evolutions on the field and in order to monitor the projects’ and program’s, also financially
- You monitor the partners in relation to result based and financial management
- You stimulate capacity building within the partner organisations and the different subjects of the program
- You stimulate collaboration among stakeholders and pay attention to efficiency and quality improvement in the program
- You search for dialogue and synergies with and between relevant local stakeholders and you represent Broederlijk Delen at local and Belgian/European governments
- You contribute to knowledge management of the organisation and partners and you give input from the field for the global Broederlijk Delen policy.
Profile
- You have a Masters degree or equivalent experience, preferably knowledge of social-political and development themes
- You have a relevant professional experience of at least 5 years of which at least 3 years in the South, preferably in Africa
- You have affinity with the North-South movement and with Africa, and you can identify yourself with the solidarity project of Broederlijk Delen
- You speak and write English fluently. Good knowledge of Dutch is important. Passive knowledge of French is a plus
- You have experience with result-based project and program management
- You are familiar with a rights based approach
- You have a good understanding of the theoretical, methodological and practical aspects of development and transformation processes in a program approach and you can facilitate these processes
- You can analyse and summarise well and you have the necessary editorial skills for drafting files, reports and policy documents
- You have strong social, relational and communicative skills within an intercultural context
- You can work autonomously
- You can manage, coach and follow up a small team of development workers and / or volunteers
- You have a flexible attitude and an innovative spirit with an eye for opportunities
- You have a good practical knowledge of common software
- You master the essential principles of accounting and organizational managementYou are willing to travel regularly and ensure sufficient presence in the regions. You have a driving license.
Offer
A full-time 3 year contract, with the possibility to extend up to 6 years
