In Uganda, we implement programmes in five thematic programme areas of Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Education, Child Poverty, Health and Nutrition in Development and Emergency contexts. Save the Children delivers programs in over 36 districts in the West Nile, North, Rwenzori, North-Eastern and Central regions of Uganda.Role Purpose:

The Advisor, Adolescent Development provides strategic direction and technical management for the planning and implementation will be the primary driver for all adolescent health activities and ensure the project meets stated goals, expected result and reporting requirements. This staff will take technical leadership role in coordination with local government, local community organizations, and other partners and will oversee and manage the work at community level. The Adolescent Advisor will be the primary driver of the adolescent safe space model ensuring high quality implementation, overseeing the training of 1,600 adolescent safe space mentors. The Advisor will ensure that, the adolescent health interventions are well integrated to the rest of the project components (family planning, maternal and child health, nutrition, WASH, and livelihood) and support the achievement of project health and nutrition goal.The staff will coordinate integrated approach to using Safe Spaces to reach adolescents age 10-19, giving at least 28,000 young people civic and transferable, sexual and reproductive health, nutrition, WASH, and foundational numeracy and literacy skills and messages.

Contract Duration: 5 years

Child Safeguarding: Level 3 - the responsibilities of the post will require the post holder to have regular contact with young youth or access to childrenLocation: Moroto Qualification and Experience Essential;

  • Extensive experience implementing Adolescent Health Development, health promotion, Family Planning, MCH, nutrition or similar programs in Uganda;

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree required. Post-graduate education (master's or higher) in public health or related field is preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience required in Adolescent health development, health communication, public health, health promotion or reproductive or related field and demonstrated experience in management of large, community-based and inter-disciplinary teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to design effective adolescent development campaignsprior experience working in Karamoja sub-region highly desired and demonstrated experience in contribution in adolescent health development strategy and materials development, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of ASRH interventions.

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, collaboration experience, creativity and willingness to innovate

  • Familiarity and understanding of USAID policies and procedures, or those of other donors, or those of donor-funded projects or community-based projects;
