SITE MANAGER

Basic requirements: 10 years of previous experience in the same role; ability to manage a construction site
WORK CONTEXT AND ARRANGEMENTS
On 10 February 2017 at Entebbe, Gino Strada and Renzo Piano laid the first stone of EMERGENCY’s new project in Uganda, together with President Museveni and Minister of Health Ruth Aceng. The centre for excellence in paediatric surgery is being built on the shores of Lake Victoria, 35 km from the capital Kampala.
In October the foundations were dug and they began raising the building.
The site manager will work as on-site head, reporting to EMERGENCY’s Building Division at its Italian HQ.
They will manage a team made up of international and local technicians, supporting them and overseeing their work.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary tasks and responsibilities of the site manager are:
Running of the site
Managing contracts with local and Italian businesses
Controlling and managing the work schedule
Managing the various firms and teams on the site
Planimetric and altimetric tracking
Dealing with potential new developments and modifications in the project
Monitoring the budget
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Certificate in geometry or structural technician certificate and degree in engineering or architecture
At least 10 years’ previous experience in site management for a construction firm (not works management)
Previous experience in NGOs or International Cooperation projects
Ability to manage an international team of workers
Previous experience in managing staff in a foreign country
Good knowledge of English (minimum B2 level)
Preferable knowledge of Italian (minimun B2 level)
PERIOD OF AVAILABILITY
One year living abroad, including a paid holiday period to be arranged with the Coordinator.
