Uganda: Finance, compliance, and administration director

Chemonics seeks a finance, compliance, and administration director for the five-year, $22- to $24-million USAID Integrated Community Agriculture and Nutrition activity in Uganda. The project will sustainably enhance the resilience of vulnerable households and communities by increasing economic opportunities for poor households, improving nutrition with a focus on women and children, and strengthening community and local governance. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee human resources management, procurement, and grants administration activities
  • Provide guidance and management support to keep procurement and project activities on track, within budget, and in compliance with the contract; Chemonics’ policies and procedures; and federal, USAID, and local regulations
  • Review and update standards and procedures to ensure the project is effective and efficient in preventing, detecting, identifying, and correcting any noncompliance with applicable rules and regulations
  • Work closely with the chief of party, project team, and Chemonics’ home office on financial management, operations, and compliance issues

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in financial analysis, accounting, or auditing
  • Experience with financial analysis, accounting, or auditing for an international organization or accounting firm
  • Familiarity with U.S. government accounting and experience in financial management of USAID-funded programs
  • Experience managing complex grants and subcontract funds
  • Demonstrated experience building capacity of local staff in procurement processes and fostering knowledge transfer of USAID systems
  • Experience supporting development projects in Africa preferred
  • Field office experience required
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills in English required
