In Uganda, we implement programmes in five thematic programme areas of Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Education, Child Poverty, Health and Nutrition in Development and Emergency contexts. Save the Children delivers programs in over 36 districts in the North, Rwenzori, North-Eastern, West Nile and Central regions of Uganda, Currently, Save the Children has a staff complement of 300 persons.
Role Purpose: The Emergency Response Manager (ERM) assumes overall oversight and manages effective and timely implementation of the SC Uganda (SCUG) Cat 2 emergency response to the South Sudanese refugee influx as well as the emergency response to the Congolese refugee population. The ERM supports the development and effectuation of a resource mobilization strategy that ensures the response programme is funded and backstopped adequately. The ERM reports to the DPO, with emphasis on ensuring operational excellence and compliance
Position: Emergency Response Manager
Reports to: Director of Program Operations (DPO), with matrix reporting line to the Country Director (CD)
Contract Duration: 18 Months
Contractual Status: National
Child Safeguarding: Level 3 - the responsibilities of the post will require the post holder to have regular contact with young youth or access to children
Location: Kampala with frequent travel to the field (40%)Qualification and Experience;
Minimum of a Master's Degree or higher or equivalent field experience
Extensive experience of working within a senior management role and within a complex country programme in an emergency response & previous experience of managing programme teams in large-scale/complex, first phase emergency response is essential
Experience of managing multi-donor, multi-site programmes (including ECHO, DFID and OFDA) of GBP 5m+ in a first phase response at regional or country level
Experience of international level representation with key stakeholders, and co-ordination with other NGOs/UN &Experience of international media representation and advocacy
Experience of M&E and beneficiary accountability systems.
