Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant – West Nile (2 positions)**

Background
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. In Uganda, the DRC programme provides comprehensive assistance and protection to refugees and other vulnerable populations, supports durable solutions to protracted displacement and works to reduce armed violence (for more information go to www.drc.dk)).
All projects implemented by DRC are monitored / evaluated in accordance to Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning policy
Purpose
The main purpose of this position is to conduct/implement comprehensive monitoring, evaluation and learning initiatives of DRC program in Rhino Camp, to ensure that Project activities meet the highest standards possible, and contribute to improving resilience capacity of persons of concerns in Rhino Camp.
Reporting Arrangements
The M&E assistant reports to the M&E Officer.
Key Responsibilities
M&E Systems’ implementation
- Manage Monitoring and Evaluation data collection by liaising with Project staff to ensure that monitoring data is collected, entered and stored
- Assist in analysis of indicator results, and in providing feedback to project management indicating where project activities and interventions are falling short, meeting or exceeding the expected outputs, outcomes and impact.
- Manage monitoring database for aggregation of monitoring data
- Perform quality assurance functions during data collection, entry and storage
- Take part in development of project M&E plans with close collaboration with project coordinators
- Take part in development and review of data collection tools.
M&E reporting and use for decision making
- Assist in the preparation of Monitoring & Evaluation reports.
- Contribute to institutional learning by participating in documentation of lessons learnt,promising and best practices
Capacity building, mentorship & Technical oversight
- Assist M&E focal points in implementing M&E activities in their sectors
- Take part in/conduct workshops and training within and outside the organization as necessary
- Assist in providing M&E training to staff as necessary.
Personal Specifications
Essential:
- Undergraduate degree in social sciences, agriculture, statistics, Computer science.
- Experience with research, including data collection and data management.
- Strong computer skills required. Successful candidates will have an excellent
- Working knowledge of Excel, and have experience using database and data analysis software.
- Experience in the Livelihoods, WASH or community service sector desired.
- Excellent oral and writing skills in English.
Preferable:
- Knowledge of the local languages spoken in the operation area is an asset.
- Familiarity with Monitoring & Evaluation for UN-funded projects desired.
Conditions for the position:
The position is contract based. Remuneration and benefits are as per DRC Uganda standard salary scale and benefit
